Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome

Minnesota Twins

AL CentralMinneapolis, MNAmerican LeagueClosed 2009

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome was a unique and much-debated venue — a cavernous air-supported dome where the Minnesota Twins won two World Series championships (1987 and 1991). The deafening crowd noise, created by acoustics that trapped sound, made it a genuine home-field advantage.

Did You Know?

  • The 1987 and 1991 World Series were both won by the home team in every game — all four Twins home games each year. The Dome's noise was credited as a major factor.

  • The white fiberglass roof made fly balls nearly invisible against it, a notorious disadvantage for visiting outfielders.

  • The Roof partially collapsed under heavy snow accumulation on December 12, 2010, after the stadium had already hosted its last game.
